Dog Ranger Gathering – A Shorebird Walk for Dog Owners

Dog Rangers Assemble! We work everyday to help protect our shorebirds. Helping us keep our birds as safe as possible are our incredible team of Dog Rangers, an essential part of Space for Shorebirds. Here are the special dogs that have taken the Dog Ranger pledge.

We think it’s important to help our Dog Rangers and their owners get an opportunity to learn about the birds of our shores that they are helping to protect. We really want to show other people that dogs can be conservationist so setting a good example will of course be important.

On these two-hour guided walks we’ll do some steady walking with plenty of stopping to watch the wildlife we encounter on the way. We’ll also talk you and the Dog Rangers through some of the common species, their life cycle and the challenges that they face. Plus, because this is nature you never know what could show up, a peregrine on the hunt, a rare migrant bird or a skein of migrating geese.

We keep these sessions to very limited numbers to make the sessions enjoyable for pooches, though we do recognise that some dogs might even find this stressful. In that case, please get in touch as we might be able to arrange an individual session for you and your Dog Ranger.

  • No knowledge of shorebirds is required in order to enjoy this event.
  • If you have your binoculars do bring them along, however some optical equipment will also be available to share.
  • Please note that in the case of extreme weather conditions, events may be postponed. We will directly contact those booked onto the events should this occur.
